<p>La mole c’est l’unité de quantité de matière. Elle correspond à un ensemble de 6,02.1023 espèces. Elle est définie à partie de la quantité d’atomes présente dans 12 g de carbone 12.</p>



<h5 class="wp-block-heading">I- <strong>Masse molaire atomique</strong></h5>



<p>Par définition, la masse d’1 mole de carbone 12 est de 12 grammes. Le carbone 12 possède 12 nucléons, donc une mole de noyaux contenant 12 nucléons pèse 12 grammes. Si on connaît le nombre de nucléons d’un atome, on peut savoir sa masse molaire (1 nucléon dans le noyau → 1g/mol, 4 nucléons dans le noyau → 4 g/mol, 16 nucléons dans le noyau → 16 g/mol, etc.).</p>



<p>Remarque : pour connaître la masse molaire d’un élément il faut tenir compte de ses isotopes.</p>



<p>La masse molaire d’un élément est la masse d’une mole de cet élément à l’état naturel (en tenant compte des isotopes). Elle s’exprime en g.mol-1.</p>



<h5 class="wp-block-heading">II- <strong>Masse molaire moléculaire</strong></h5>



<p>La masse molaire moléculaire d’une molécule est la masse d’une mole de cette molécule. Elle se calcule en faisant la somme des masses molaires atomiques des éléments qui la composent. Elle s’exprime en g.mol-1.</p>



<p><strong>Exemple :</strong> la masse molaire du dioxyde de carbone (CO<sub>2</sub>) est :</p>



<p class="has-text-align-center">M<sub>CO2</sub>= M<sub>C </sub>+ 2.M<sub>O</sub>                           M<sub>CO2</sub>= 12.01 + 2&#215;16 </p>



<p class="has-text-align-center"><strong>D&#8217;où M<sub>CO2</sub>= 44.01 g.mol-1</strong></p>



<p>Remarque : pour les masses molaires ioniques on ne tient pas compte des électrons en plus ou en moins</p>
